We received these work-in-progress photos from O Yemi Tubi (https://www.facebook.com/yemi.arts) in London today: a response to the killing of George Floyd and the current BLM protests, topics that we have been thinking about a lot at the Art Center. The drawings are on their way to us now!
Here's an update on our second collaborative drawing with MaryAnn Loo in Singapore! We sent her a drawing featuring Portland's famous crows--these photos give a sneak preview of her response...
Check out this wonderful update from MaryAnn Loo in Singapore! This is the drawing that MaryAnn is starting, for us to add to and develop once it arrives here in Portland. We're looking forward to working on it!
We've had some very exciting work-in-progress images from Kaoru Shibuta in Kyoto, working in response to some sketches we sent!
Check out these fabulous work-in-progress images from O. Yemi Tubi @o yemi arts! What powerful imagery. We can't wait to continue the exchange.
An update from Anna Maria Kasprzak in Cuenca, Spain, working away at some drawings to send back to us. We can't wait to see what she's added!
Here's an update from Arif Bahaduri, one of our collaborators who was recently forced to relocate from Khabul, Afghanistan to Canada. As he settles in to a new life we're really happy to see him finding space to create, and these drawings are looking beautiful!
Also introducing Juan Sebastian Jimenez Salazar, also known as SEPC Sepc, a fantastic artist adorning the streets of Manizales, Colombia. SEPC's work includes huge, striking portraits and a very clever series of 'Negativos', paintings that are executed in negative so that only with the colors inverted does the image appear normal.
We are also excited to be working with Tarteel Khaled in Egypt! Her glowing, surreal abstract paintings suggest intriguing landscapes. Welcome to the project!
We are welcoming to the project MaryAnn Loo in Singapore, whose work is colorful, fantastical and often populated by penguins!
