“The permafrost came at the beginning of December, so by Christmas season there was solid ground frozen underneath the solid snow and ice and then a blizzard on top of that. We were driving along and our van went into a snow drift. I sat in the driver's seat just going beep beep beep beep beep beep at the horn that someone may hear us. But the young woman and I together we stayed silent for 20 minutes knowing that this very well could be the last minutes because if we couldn’t be seen or heard or found we will certainly freeze to death in there in probably an hour.”
