Course Description:
Over 4 sessions, participants will design, from their own imagination, a unique character and build a table top figure; gaining experience in wire armatures, sculpting, finishing, painting, drafting, and some simple stitch work. Storytelling, plot development and manipulation will be explored, culmination in a final session performance.

Bio for Mary Nagler, Artist/Puppeteer, MFA Puppet Arts, UCONN
Mary Hildebrand Nagler is a seasoned professional puppeteer, specializing in the building of foam- based puppets. Her broad spectrum experience, highly refined skill set, strong work ethic, ability to collaborate and sense of play, has distinguished her in the field. Nagler holds an MFA in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut and has enjoyed a varied career which includes work in Film, Video, live performance, workshops and teaching at the college level. She has worked for some of the premiere shops in the country, including: The Puppet Heap, Rick Lyon Studios, Furry Puppet Co, and Images in Motion, to name a few.
Whorls of Wonder Puppet Theater is her latest endeavor. The company is dedicated to teaching complex ecological issues in an entertaining way. Currently, the company is working on staging Terran’s Aquarium, a show about the encroaching fresh water crisis in the world. See www.whorlsofwonder.com
